First Hispanic in the US and first person in the state of Louisiana to obtain the CFP professional designation. 1974 National Association for Securities Dealers- Registered Principal.
Career Highlights:
1965 Mr. Banos started recommending mutual funds to his clients. The entire Industry consisted of $34.8 billion under management according to the Investment Company Institute. That same year, Fidelity had 4 funds offered to the public: Puritan, Fidelity Fund, Trend and Capital. MFS had only 2 funds: Mass Investors Trust and Mass Investors Growth. All existing funds were quoted daily by the Wall Street Journal. 1969 Organizer of the International Association of Financial Counselors, now the International Association for Financial Planning (IAFP). 1969 Charter Member of the Society for Financial Counseling Ethics, Inc. 1972 Co-writer of the first Salary Reduction Thrift Plan, written in the US and qualified through Internal Revenue. This plan later on became what is now known as the 401(k). 1978 Past President & Founder of the Professional Financial Planners of Greater New Orleans.
